Round 1 Moorlands Ladies Trial 13th April 2008. The recent Women’s European Trial Championship at Grasse, near Nice, France and the Ladies World Trial Championship in Luxembourg has raised the anticipation levels for the Moorlands Ladies Trial, Round 1 of the British Championship organised by the Cheadle(Staffs) Auto Club on 13th April 2008.
ACU Women’s Champion Becky Cook finished as top British rider in both European and World rounds, 3rd in France and a brilliant 2nd in Luxembourg. Having managed to secure a place on the lower step of the podium in both World and European Championship events, the focus of her efforts for the remainder of 2008 is clear; to finish 1st!
Hot on the heels of Becky, in France, was 15 years old Joanne Coles who put in an excellent ride against her older competitors, finishing in 4th place. Whilst Joanne was able to compete against the adults in the European Championship, the 2007 Runner Up will once again be competing in the A Class for 2008 now starting as a certain favourite. The 2007 A Class Champion, Emma Bristow also had a superb ride in France finishing in 6th place, just in front of Ladies World number four, Donna Fox. Luxembourg’s World Round saw a further 3 British riders in the top 6 behind Cook, Maria Conway, 4th, Fox, 5th and Bristow, in her first year of adult World competition, 6th.
With a number of riders switching classes in line with their age/ability levels increasing, the early Rounds of the Championship always provide extra interest as the younger riders raise their skill level in line with their new Class rivals.
As in previous years this years Championship consists of 7 Rounds, with 6 counting towards their Championship score.
